Personal Care

Personal Care offers a higher intensity of services than Assisted Living yet still not as intensive as Intermediate and Skilled Nursing Care. The care needs of Personal Care residents generally include a progression in the loss of Activities of Daily Living. Residents may begin exhibiting a decrease in cognitive functioning and require extensively more help in areas such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, and the administering of medication. To qualify for this level of care residents must be ambula- tory or wheelchair independent, remain continent for the most part, and must be capable of feeding themselves. Setting up the meal tray, includ- ing the preparation and cutting of food, is a service that can be for Personal Care. However state subsidy is available for individuals who financially qualify. Contact your local Department for Community Based Services to apply. The most common payment source is Private Pay, but most Long Term Care Insurance policies recognize Personal Care as a covered service.
